In the North of the Aveyron
The most beautiful part of hidden France, peace, nature, walking, cycling and discovering medieval places.
MAISON de la Bonne Vie is located in the departmentAveyron. A department in the region Occitanië (a merger as of 01-01-2016 of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi Pyrénées). The climate is great overhere, early spring from the end of March and long autumn until mid-October. Walking, mountain biking, motorcycling and exploring all the beautiful (medieval) places. There are many vide greniers/brocantes in summer, local fests etc.
The nature is fantastic, we are located between the volcanic mountains of the Auvergne and the Pyrenees, so you have fantastic views everywhere you go. You come across castles and sometimes you are forced to drive through some traffic jams along the way by a herd of cows. The farmer simply moves his cows from one pasture to another over the public road. If you want to take a culinary trip (Guido cooks deliciously, but still) you can visit 2 fantastic auberges nearby, each with their own specialty. If you want top of the bill, you drive an hour to Laguiole, where the famous knives come from, and here is the 3 Michelin star restaurant of Michel and Sebastian Bras.Reservations will have to take place at least 4-5 months in advance.
For any reservations you would like to make in advance, you can always ask us to arrange this for you.
The nearest wine regions are Entraygues (Vins d'Eentraygues - Le Fel in Entraygues-sur-Truyère and Estaing (Les vignerons d'Olt in Estaing (75 km) with its red, rosé or white. The vineyards are located on the steep slopes of the Lot Valley. Fer Servadou and Gamay are used for red wine. Chenin blanc is used for white wine. Estaing is also a beautiful place to visit with the historic monument Chateau d'Estaing.
We have mapped out a few routes that you could take, ask at your stay and we will be happy to give you tips to make a day out even more fun and interesting.
