MAISON de la Bonne Vie is located in the quiet department of Aveyron, region of Occitania. Its mild climate means you will enjoy early spring to long autumn here. Our location between the volcanic mountains of Auvergne and the Pyrenees provides spectacular views and plenty of variety in nature.
Everywhere you drive, walk or cycle you pass castles, picturesque villages and sometimes even a herd of cows on the road. This is where you taste real French country life!
For nature lovers and adventurers
The region is a paradise for hikers, cyclists and sporty holidaymakers. Various hiking and cycling routes start from the house - from relaxing tours to challenging mountain bike and motorbike routes. Feel free to ask about our mapped routes or get advice on the best day trips.
In summer, local markets, brocantes (vide greniers) and village festivals are everywhere. The countryside invites you to get out and about: picnicking by the water, swimming in one of the lakes, or just enjoying the peace and quiet.
Culinary delights and our wine
Besides our own kitchen, there are several cosy auberges nearby, each with their own specialities. If you want a real culinary treat, Michel and Sébastien Bras' famous 3-star restaurant is just an hour's drive away in Laguiole. Don't forget to book well in advance for this unique experience.
The vineyards of Entraygues and Estaing are a short distance away and well worth a visit - including tastings, beautiful views and characteristic French village life.

A castle 20min away from us that you can visit by appointment. You get a tour of the interiors and the beautiful roof construction.
Mur de Barrez
The place near us of any size, at 20min. Beautiful medieval grand Rue leads to a nice viewpoint. Cosy weekly market takes place on Thursdays.
Château Pesteils
A scenic drive of about 35min takes you to this beautiful castle in Cantal. Many activities are organised there.

Day out: Discover Aubrac and Laguiole
Fancy a day of touring? Then drive through the hills and meadows of Aubrac, a region full of space, tranquillity and beautiful views. Along the way, you'll pass picturesque villages and enjoy the real French countryside.
Highly recommended is the Barrage de Sarrans, an impressive dam in the region. Park at the bottom, walk across the dam and experience the huge difference in altitude on both sides. Then drive to the viewpoint on top for more information and a great view over the reservoir.
End your day in Laguiole, famous for its traditional steak knives. You will find cosy shops where you can buy knives in all kinds of styles and even have them engraved. Taking a look at one of the workshops on the outskirts of the village is definitely worth it!
De Plomb du Cantal & Le Lioran
Visit the region's highest point: the Plomb du Cantal, with its impressive peak at 1855 metres above sea level. Here you will experience an extraordinary volcanic landscape, formed by ancient lava flows and erosion, with stunning views over the mountains and valleys of Cantal.
At the foot of this peak lies the village and resort of Le Lioran. In summer, this is the place for active outings: choose from numerous hiking trails (including several GR paths), go horse riding, mountain biking or try one of the special trails for e-MTB. Le Lioran is ideal for those who want to combine nature, sports and beautiful views during a day out.
